Resilience & Relationships

TRBN Annual Meeting in Asheville

On August 27-28, TRBN held its 11th annual meeting at the Renaissance Hotel in Asheville, NC. Over 100 attendees convened to discuss "Resilience & Relationships" in the context of the impacts of Hurricane Helene in late 2024. Data collection, monitoring, and recovery of aquatic species, as well as the importance of collaboration and partnerships, were detailed in presentations from over a dozen speakers.

At the evening banquet, TVA's Paul Pearman presented the annual TN River Champion Awards. Tennessee Aquarium Conservation Institute received a $5,000 Outreach and Communications award for its inaugural Laurel Dace Day. RiverLine received a $5,000 Science and Management award for its Adopt-A-Stream program.
Field trips included a creek cleanup and Trash Trout installation organized by Asheville Greenworks, a jaunt to Asheville Botanical Gardens with Discover Life in America, and a tour of a New Belgium Brewery's sustainability and environmental protection features.
