CHIRAM: Collaboration on Helene Impact and Recovery Assessment and Monitoring
- Big Ivy - Corner Rock tree debris with Julie for scale Collaboration on Helene Impact and Recovery Assessment and Monitoring
Following Hurricane Helene in September, 2024 many organizations quickly began the work of assessing impacts of the storm on freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems, but without any region-wide coordination. As recovery efforts have proceeded rapidly and federal and state funding streams have begun to flow, it has become apparent that some level of coordination and collaboration across organizational and jurisdictional boundaries will help ensure effective application of these resources and the ability to track their effectiveness over time. What we learn from the impacts of and recovery from this storm can help us better prepare for future storms in the region and beyond.
