Forest management affects wildlife habitat by altering the structure and composition of vegetation communities. Every wildlife species uses a specific set of resources associated with different species and ages of forest trees (e.g., nesting cavities, den sites, acorn crops, fruit resources) to survive and reproduce. Forest managers, wildlife conservation groups, policy makers, and other stakeholders often need to review the literature on forest bird-vegetation relationships to inform decisions on natural resource management or ecosystem restoration. The literature gateway facilitates the exploration of this literature, helping users find references on a diverse range of management-relevant topics that have been compiled by subject experts based on searches of >60 different sources spanning the past 50+ years.

The Present and Future Possibilities of Landscape Scale Conservation: AppLCC Ethnographic Study Video of Presentation

The Landscape Conservation Cooperative (LCC) program was created under a secretarial order to develop regional conservation partnerships – under the Department of the Interior – that aimed to coordinate regional conservation planning in response to climate change impacts. Because they were partner-driven efforts, each of the 22 LCCs followed a distinct trajectory and implemented diverse projects, meaning that there is value in exploring how specific LCCs, such as the AppLCC, approached regional conservation. This study assesses the successes, limitations, and impacts of the AppLCC, with the aim of providing insights for future regional conservation partnership.

The Global Change Fellows of the Southeast Climate Adaptation Science Center have congregated a multi-disciplinary panel to address how COVID-19 has affected disaster recovery and community resilience strategies. The seminar will be structured as a panel discussion among scientists and professionals from the Eastern and Western regions of the United States, and the Caribbean. They will bring their expertise and experience as they answer questions provided by the Fellows and audience members. Our panelists will explore the changes and adjustments to disaster recovery due to COVID-19 and discuss the implications for future actions on disaster recovery and community resilience.
